About Rheology 2019

Complex materials, macromolecular and multi-phase, are ubiquitous in engineering applications as well as natural systems. These materials are challenging to design, and difficult to understand, due to the complexity of underlying physico-chemical mechanisms. In this course, lectures will focus on fluid-like complex materials, and their deformation behaviour. Flow and deformation behaviour is important for engineering materials such as plastic melts, paints and emulsions. Similarly, natural materials such as blood, plant cell wall, tissue function based on their mechanical response.

This short-term course on Rheology of Complex Materials will be based on introductory aspects as well as application areas. The course contents are designed to help develop an understanding of the rheological behaviour of materials, and its relevance to fundamental understanding and industrial applications.

The course is open to faculty with background in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Materials Science from AICTE approved engineering colleges. No course fee is charged for the participants from AICTE approved institutions. Participants from other institutes/industries have to pay Rs. 10000/- as registration fee.
The payment is to be made by demand draft drawn on any nationalized bank in favor of The Registrar, IIT Madras payable at Chennai. Participants selected from AICTE recognized engineering institutions will be eligible for to and fro railway fare via shortest route in 3-Tier AC class. Candidates attending the course till its completion will only be eligible for travelling allowance.
