catalyst/materials synthesis and characterization/handling of analytical/spectroscopic instruments/catalytic reactor experiments would be an added advantage. |
Project Description: The overall objective of the project is to simultaneously optimize the catalyst surface structure and the reaction conditions for optimum yield of alkenes during oxidative dehydrogenation of light alkanes using CO2 as a mild oxidant. To do this, one of the aims is developing insights on in-operando structure of metal oxide and metal carbide catalysts using a combination of operando IR spectroscopic analysis density functional theory simulations and spectroscopic analysis. This, together with a multiscale modelling approach will be used to optimize reaction conditions for optimum catalyst structure, and thereby activity.
Job Scope: The job scope for this position will include (but not restricted to) survey and summarising of the literature, timely purchase of chemicals and components for the experiments, assembling of the reactor set up and online gas sampling systems, systematic planning and execution of synthesis and detailed characterization of the cerium oxide and molybdenum carbide catalysts, fixed bed catalytic reactor experiments of the oxidative dehydrogenation under varying conditions using these catalysts, data recording, analysis and reporting, contributing to scientific communication in the form of journal articles, technical reports and so on.
Position Duration: Initially for 6 months and extendable for 6-month tenures (maximum of
2 years) upon positive review and recommendation by the review committee. Position is available from 15 July 2022.
Salary and Benefits: Consolidated salary of Rs.31000 per month and other applicable benefits as per the norms of the Centre for Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research, IIT Madras.
Interested candidates may send his/her CV to jithinjv@iitm.ac.in with a brief letter of motivation and fit for the position.
The last date for submission of online application is 15.7.2022
